This is a 7 part series covering my 15 day escapade in Himachal Pradesh, India through Parvati Valley, Kasol, Kheerganga, Jibhi, Jhalori, Mcleodganj & Triund. The trip was curated by Tripver, check-out Tripver for similar trips & experiences.

Himachal Pradesh : Himachal Pradesh is a northern Indian state in the Himalayas. It’s home to scenic mountain towns and resorts such as Dalhousie. Host to the Dalai Lama, Himachal Pradesh has a strong Tibetan presence. This is reflected in its Buddhist temples and monasteries, as well as its vibrant Tibetan New Year celebrations. The region is also well known for its trekking, climbing and skiing areas.

PART 1 – Delhi to Kasol

Delhi to Kasol is a overnight journey by bus. I started from Delhi at 8:00 PM and reached Kasol at 2:00 PM next day.

Kasol is a village in district Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, northern India. It is situated in Parvati Valley, on the banks of the Parvati River, on the way between Bhuntar to Manikaran. It is located 31.2 km from Bhuntar and 5 kms before Manikaran. The place has amazing cafes and beautiful views of snow covered peaks and lush green all around. We were exploring the town the whole day. The best things I liked about the day was evergreen cafe and a random trek. You will find a lot of small treks around Kasol but I would not recommend those because most of them are very crowded so its better to take the wrong route and explore you own spot to chill in the woods. PART 2 – Kasol to Kheerganga

Kheerganga is a moderate trek and could be a good experience for people who are getting into trekking. The trek starts from a water Dam at Barsheni. We started the journey from our hotel in Kasol at 9:00 AM in a cab which took us to Barsheni in around 1 hour. The three major check points for the trek are Barsheni (starting point), Nathan (first stop), Rudra Nag (second stop). We reached our basecamps at around 2:30 PM after starting from Barsheni at 10:30 AM. As soon as we reached our basecamps, it started raining heavily and we enjoyed our afternoon meals and cup of tea being served in the common dining area in the basecamps. After taking a nap for an hour, the clouds had got cleared out and we went to the hot water spring which is a very popular hangout at kheerganga. You should carry extra pair of clothes and towel for that. Do not forget to explore the main market at Kheerganga, that has some awesome cafes to chill. Checkout the complete video for more details.

PART 3 – Kheerganga to Jibhi

I woke up to a amazing view of snow covered peaks, chirping birds and crows in the background and also I was able to hear the noise of the river flowing nearby. By 8:00 AM, the scenery changed completely as the sun had came up and the sunlight was very direct and bright. We started at around 10 AM after having heavy breakfast including boiled egg, bread, omelette and milk with bournvita. We completed the downhill trek in 2 and a half hours and started our drive for kasol from Barsheni. We had our lunch in kasol at moon light cafe and then we took a taxi till Bhuntar where I met Rishabh (Owner of Nature’s lap resort, Jibhi) and we drove till Jibhi from Bhuntar in his car. It took us around 4 hours at night and we reached Nature’s lap resort in Jibhi at around 11:30 PM where amazing dinner was served in the kitchen. Checkout the video for more details.

PART 4 – Exploring Jibhi

Next day morning, I got up early and was exploring the apple orchids in the backyard of the resort. Later that day I was exploring Jibhi along with my newly made friend Rishabh and the resort manger – Satpal. We went to the famous Shringa rishi temple where I learnt about the history of the place and the views from the place were amazing. Soon we started our trek for Chaini Fort which is one of the popular spot to visit. The fort is different from the ones you see at other places in India in terms of architecture. The place also offers you 180 degree views of the bir banjar ranges and also scenic landscape of tall deodar trees and apple orchids. After our trek downhill, we started our drive back to the resort. On the way back, we stopped for fishing and catch some trout fishes for dinner. Trout fishes are the delicacy of the place and are rare to find. We reached back resort and lit a bonfire later that night. Checkout the video for more details.

PART 5 – Jibhi to Mcleodganj

Next morning I got up early because we had plans for going for a trek till sirloskar lake from Jalori temple. The day very bright and sunny. But the winds were still a little cold so I carried a jacket along with me. The drive till Jalori temple was almost 2 hours and had rough patches on the way with views offering the landscapes of Jibhi Valley from the top. When were starting for the trek, the weather became very hot because of direct sunlight. As soon as we reached Jalori top, the clouds had started appearing but since there was a lot of hike involved, clouds were turning in favour. But soon it started raining and we took a route passing through woods. Weather had taken a turn around and the temperature started dropping with strong cold winds blowing and heavy rainfall. We took the shelter in a small food joint which serves rajma and rice, maggie, biscuits, tea, and other basic munchies. We also found umbrellas there for Rs.200 each after bargain and started our journey for Sirloskar lake. While we were waiting at the food joint, it had started pouring down snow and it became freezing cold. The view from sirloskar lake was beautiful but we had to start moving back so that we could avoid ourselves from freezing as the temperature dropped down drastically and I was in my half t shirt. We reached back to jalori temple in almost 2 hours without any stop and had a cup of tea before starting our ride back to the resort. We did stargazing that night and next morning woke up very late because the only thing planned for the day was the ride till Mcleodganj. Watch the complete video for more details.

PART 6 – Mcleodganj, The Musical Voyage

Day 1 at Mcleodganj was a day for lazing around as I was a little tired from my treks in last 5 days. I just explored a little in the streets of upper Bhaksunag which is known for some really good cafes and I finally settled at a cafe at the rooftop of a hosteLaVie. The view was good and the place was dope so I called it off the day.

Next morning I met my fellow travellers who were travelling with tripver and I explored the town in form of cafe crawl. I went to Mcleodganj, Dalai lama monastry, Dharamkot and Upper bhaksunag. Dharamkot is the best place for cafe hopping. Moon light cafe being my favourite.

While you are roaming through the streets of upper bhaksunag and Dharamkot, you will find the vibe very musical and you will find a lot of people jamming on the streets. And showing their hidden talents. Mcleodganj was beautiful, the day was all about food, cafe, live music and good people. I called it off the night with a mango shake 🙂 . PART 7 – Triund Trek

Triund was my last trek in this Himachal expedition. I started the trek in the morning at around 9:00 AM from Bhaksunag with the team of Tripver. From Bhaksunag, we did a trek till Dharamkot which is very steep and was tiring. It took us 1 hour to reach till the starting point of the trek. The trek was moderate with beautiful landscapes on the way. On the way I experienced a drastic weather change where it became extremely foggy within about a minute of time. Also would like to mention that the trek would take atleast 4 hours so if you are reading this, please be patient and DO NOT ASK anyone about how much of it is left. NOBODY WILL GIVE YOU RIGHT ANSWER. Last half an hour of trek is very steep and rocky. People might need a stick for this stretch. We reached our basecamps by 3:00 PM and were served rajma and rice for lunch. The view at night was beautiful with bright stars lighting up the sky. Next morning we did a heavy breakfast and started the downhill trek which took us just 2 hours to reach till the starting point of the trek. Later we had lunch in Mcleodganj and started our journey back to Delhi in Volvo which was an overnight journey starting at 7:00 PM from Mcleodganj bus stop. Checkout the video for more details.
