Aerial cinematography for Harmony with A.R. Rahman, the Amazon Prime Video original in which A.R. Rahman travels across India to meet musicians keeping rare traditions alive.
Harmony with A.R. Rahman is an Amazon Prime Video original documentary series. A.R. Rahman travels to different corners of India to meet musicians who play instruments and forms that are close to disappearing, and makes music with them in the places that music comes from.
I flew the aerial units. The brief was simple to say and hard to do: show where the music lives. Each establishing move had to place a musician inside their own landscape, in one unhurried shot, and then get out of the way of the music rather than compete with it.
That meant planning flights around performances and around the light, working closely with the ground camera team so the aerials cut cleanly against their coverage, and keeping the drone far enough away that musicians could play without noticing it.
